how much whistle is normal on a vrs?

Featured Replies

Hopefully im worrying about nothing but how much turbo noise is normal? I get a whistle as soon as im on throttle which seems to switch off suddenly at a set rev which im guessing could be the sai pump but then on boost the turbos quite loud with the windows down, now I get no smoke and the boosts good and I have owned cars before with knackered turbos which squealed on boost but this is different, really need to drive another 1.8t or have a ride in another vrs

Could be a popped pipe mine is doing this ATM but mine sound metally if that makes sense like either the blades of the turbo are touching the housing of the turbo (I hope not as I won't be happy less than 8 month old and a hybrid) or the pipe is vibrating metal to metal good luck finding it

See I had metal on metal with a old diesel rover of mine and that was very distinctive scream type sound. Im gonna plumb the boost gauge in that I found in the boot so I can keep a eye on it. Im wondering if the wrong spring is in the 007dv, as I say the boost is strong and holding by the feel of it but not had the car long. Il have a good look at the pipes cheers fella

Not a problem and yea get the boost gauge plumbed in good luck fellow Ken
