Rear Window heater element failure

Featured Replies

Hi,

The plastic bit of the high level brake light which sticks to the rear window became unstuck and seems to have damaged the top three heater elements.

The dealer is changing the whole rear screen and high level light assembly without fuss.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue?

AFAIK the three top lines are antenna/gps and not supposed to heat. Also the plastic on mine is not stuck firmly. Gratz to Your dealer tho :)

If it is a hatch the top 3 elements don't heat up they are the DAB antenna.

Your dealer is an idiot if they didn't know this.

The last thing you want is a screen replaced unnecessarily, if you get the car back with the screen fitted squarely without any damage to trim or paintwork you have been very lucky.

Cheers, will ask a few questions to the dealer when I take it in.

But, if they are antenna what is the point of the black one on the roof?

The roof antenna is for the GPS.

You don't have a fault with the rear screen, full stop.

I have had two rear screen replacements and both times I have ended up with damage to the paintwork and trim that rattles. Both done at main dealers.

The roof antenna is for the GPS.

And the phone box if you have one installed.
