Door not locking

Featured Replies

Just noticed that the rear drivers side passenger door is NOT locking, could have been like this for a longtime as I never check the doors  !

All other doors lock. Can see no obstructions etc.

Car seems to know it isnt locked as with auto locking on I can hear the door clicking everytime the car has comes to a halt and sets off again.

Tried using the emergency door lock control in the trailing edge of the door but it will not move.

This control on the otherside door moves easily even if it doesnt seem to work as the manual suggests !

This control is also white on the nearside(working) and black on the drivers non-working side.

Car is of course a few days out of warranty and I am due to take it away from home on Monday .

Anyone any ideas what the problem is and any way of locking this rear passenger door even on a temporary basis

Having analysed the central locking indicator flash pattern - it is showing a fault.

I'd guess at it being the door solenoid that's failed.

That is not an emergency door lock control, its the child safety lock used to stop the doors opening from inside the car..

But if that is not moving there is something wrong that is involving that too.

If it was me I'd take the inner door trim and the panel behind off to see if it's something simple to fix.

The child safety lock is a separate control !

The emergency locking control is behind a rubber grommet on the trailing edge of the door.

Just spoke to dealer he reckons door latch has collapsed and needs replacement.

Bad news he has no workshop slots for 10 days , good news is he says system says still in warrenty (just).

Oops, just had a look. Another thing learnt thanks.

Good news about the warranty ;)

I had this happen to me a month ago, but the culprit was the wiring loom in the drivers door. Glad your getting it sorted though :)

Update

After waiting 10 days for a workshop slot, diagnosis is a faulty latch and sub-loom : so courtesy car and another 70 miles trip.

Also car out of warranty by 1 week ( date I reported problem) so am pushing them to ask SKODA for a contribution. Car has dolne 14k miles.

How does this work, what may I expect ?
