Is programming a key really this easy?

Featured Replies

After buying a MK1 Octavia with only one key, I set about researching the cheapest way to create a duplicate.

I found this on youtube (Admittedly VW but guessing its the same??)

Anyway, is it really this simple or am I missing something. Of course the blade would need to be cut...

Clickedy Click

he only seems to show the remote locking/ unlocking function and not the actual immobiliser chip coding. The part that will allow the engine to start.

Ah that figures. I couldn't see why stealers charge so much if its as simple as checking youtube. Ill do a search on here for more info. Thanks

You'll need specialist equipment to do it (not possible in VCDS).

There's a 'group buy' of sorts on this forum and many others where the guy travels around the country, organised groups in similar locations and provides new keys, blade & coding for sensible prices.

Have a search for that thread.
