Fabia mk 1 classic symphony rear speakers

Featured Replies

Hey there. Couple of years ago whilst I was using a Sony after market hu I fitted some OEM speakers in the parcel shelf side trims of my car and wired them into the iso adapter. Couple of weeks ago the Sony died so I dug out the symphony hu and moved the speaker wires into the correct pins in the speaker block going into the back of the symphony hu. But I get no sound coming out of them, only the front door speakers.

Any one got any idea of what I need to do differently? I could splice the wires into the front speaker connections but I would prefer to be able to adjust the fade from front to rear, which I wouldn't be able to do in this case.

Sorry for any lack of specific details earlier, I was posting from my phone. Just to be clear, as per fabdavrav's guide here I have connected the installed rear speaker wires as follows:

  • 8n/pin1 = Drivers side positive (+)
  • 8n/pin2 = Drivers side negative (-)
  • 8n/pin7 = Passenger side positive (+)
  • 8n/pin8 = Passenger side negative (-)

However, once connected to the standard symphony CD HU (can't recall exact model number, but it is the non-MP3 version) I am still only getting sound via the front door speakers, when fading to the rear as per the user manual (GEOx2 > "Fade" > Move control dial to from center to rear) this just "fades" to nothing.

When I bypassed the OEM loom and had them going into the ISO adapter for my Sony HU they worked fine, so I doubt there is a problem with the actual speakers. The user manual does state that the symphony head unit has 4x20watt output and there are 8 pins on the back of the unit itself. I have had to add some extra metal pin receptacles from a spare loom that I had lying around and attached the speaker wires to that.

I do recall reading at some point that sometimes you have to enable rear speakers through vag-com if the car didn't come with them as standard, but I can't find a reference to that anywhere now.
