MkI Fabia Xenon headlights,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Featured Replies

Why are they so BLOODY expensive?

Can anyone tell me?

I've seen OE used ones on ebay Germany for 90 Euro (£65) each and pattern part or OEM ones for 197 Euro (£140) for a PAIR!

Why the hell are they so expensive here? Sellers bumping up the price or what?

Could LHD versions be legally used here with some modification?

Supply and demand Lee. Supply and demand.

The projector itself is doing the LHD/RHD cutoff. There shouldn't be a difference with the headlamp shells themselves.

Some projector types have a lever or other facility to "flip" the orientation of the cutoff. Others have a sold metal casting. I dunno what ours resemble unfortunately.

Possibly of use. :)

Although, I have read that this process "flat-lines" the dipped beam. i.e. cutting off both sides allowing no pavement kick. The implication seems to be that one could pull the projector out and mod the internals or swap the movable cutoff shield over.

Yeah I did wonder if they had a toggle for LHD/ RHD countries but that's a temporary measure, more of a stop-gap solution for holidays etc but I doubt it'd get you through an MoT as the beam is flattened so much. Thanks for the link though :)

SWMBO is fluent in German so I might ask if she can ask a seller if they can get RHD versions at the same kind of price.

GROUP BUY!!

GROUP BUY!!

possibly, would be nice to have a source outside the UK that could supply UK spec at EU prices :)

And people want out of the EU?

Not one to brag.. But my polo ones cost £60.

:finger:   lol

Yeah, thing is Polo ones, Ibiza ones, MkII Fabia ones, Octavia ones etc etc are all bloody cheap so I struggle to understand the pricing of MkI Fabia xenons.

I do understand market forces/ supply and demand BTW. I'm sure they cost no more to manufacture than LHD versions so it's my feeling the sellers are ripping us off by a huge margin.

:D

I felt the same way, was one of the things I wanted for ages, checked scrap yard often enough.

Don't even want them on the polo but for that price is be rude not to.

I'm with you on the price though, just don't understand it for the Fabia.

My car has had the beam flattened for a couple of years and 2 MOTs. We go to Germany quite regularly so I just leave it like that.

Similarly the motorhome being LHD with LHD lights (they don't make RHD ones anymore) can still legally pass an MOT with the beam adjusted (with black tape to change the beam).

thank, Phil. Possibly something to consider then. I want xenons but buggered if I'll pay what the sellers think they're worth ;)

The reason they cost so much is your lucky if 1% of fabia mk1's had xenon's

Extremely rare hence price

Looks like quite an easy DIY really.
