Dealer striggling to fix coolant leak after engine replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all, I had my engine replaced (2.0Tsi) after the engine threw its timing chain and eat itself. SInce then I have had a coolant leak, it first showed under the car at the back of the undertray in the middle.

Since then the dealer has:- replaced seals to the turbo charger, then removed the turbo charger and replaced pipe.

Its still leaving a few drips under the car and you can see red blobs along the back edge of the undertray.

Any ideas why this is causing so much of a headache to get fixed? I have made it clear that this is the last time it goes to the dealer, after that I will take it to an indy and bill them!

Have they had it up on the ramp and cleaned under the engine. Then turned it on along with the heaters. This might help as they will get a better view from underneath.

Personally I would suspect the seal on the water pump has been damaged.

I was thinking the same thing, when it first leaked I said water pump but they say its the turbo, a leak from a "bolt" and seal. I have asked them to show me it up on the ramp and once fixed, I have stipulated its parked up with a tray under it for 48hrs.

If I look underneath I can see red bolbs right under the center of the engine at the back. I can't see anything swashing around on the tray from above. If its the pump I wonder why the keep fiddling with the turbo.
