Hey there guys im looking at buying a 06 octavia vRS 2.0t fsi would like to know if there is anything to look for when buying any advice would be much appreciated. The car has 100k and full service history.

Check cam belt changes have been done, it should of had 2 by now, look for rust on the sills behind the front wheel and make sure on the test drive none of the warning lights on the dash are lit.

Thanks very much for feedback is the rust a major bad thing like for example if it has the rust on the sill do i have to stay away

Personally id use it to your advantage as long as the rust wasnt severe, bargain a better deal taking into account the cost of repair work to sort rusty sills

Thanks any other tips any thing to look out for engine wise what are the 2.0 turbo engines like i have a pd 130 golf at the min how do they compare

it depends on what u mean by compare ive had a 2.0 tfsi vrs and went back to a pd130 diesel , im now looking for an octavia vrs diesel the petrol tfsi is a fairly fast car in standard form but it will only give u low 30s mpg and the tax is £245 if not more now for a year and uses super unleaded and you wont get much more than 300 miles from a tank of fuel,i dont need to tell u how economical the pd130 as you already know i was just dissapointed how uneconomical the tfsi was it was no better than my old mk1 vrs , 

 

i would check the spec of the vrs dose it have jumbo box armrest and electric rear windows and duel zone climate control as some have wind up rear windows standard air con and no armrest,and check the wheel size as some have 17s not 18s, try to get one with the maxidot full screen computer as lots seem to have the half screen computer which is ok,  and yes the sills may have surface rust at the front from stone chips  

It has 18s and duel zone not sure on rear windows or the full screen comp or not my commute for work is only 3 miles so fuel economy shouldn't be a huge issue

it will be just fine then thats not far at all , i think the duel zone arm rest and electric rear window came together as an option, maxidot shows the picture of the car when doors are open on the dash , there seems to be loads of cheap ex police low spec tfsi vrs,s about its a buyers market .  

Just been back along to look a t the car and test drove it and it doesnt have full screen computer you refered to @willy0329 but has all the others im getting the car tho drives really smooth lovely car

Service history inc cam belt changes. 06 should have had two.

 

Worth asking about teves mk60 replacement, it'd be good to know that had been done. Also check the AC since that is going on a lot of cars.
