Screw-on inflator...

Featured Replies

I recently bought a cordless tyre inflator that has a screw-on valve connection.

Trouble is, when screwing it on and screwing it off there is an escape of air depending on how fast I do it.

I have learnt that I need to inflate the tyre to 1.5psi more than I need to allow for the escaping air when disconnecting.

Its not very accurate though is it...I might be quicker or slower on a different tyre and therefore have unequal tyre pressures on the car.

So my question is...does anyone know of a different and hopefully more accurate way of using this device?

Many thanks.

Mike.

Probably best off buying a tyre pressure gauge, over inflating the tyres then checking them and letting the right amount of air out until the correct pressure is reached.

could you not discard the screw on fitting, and fit the conventional clip on version

Thanks for your reply...but it was my desire to get away from the clip-on version that persuaded me to buy this thing in the first place.

I may, though, be forced to return to it for reasons of accuracy. Shame.

Regards

Mike.
