I changed my fuel filter at weekend and just noticed its leaking and making a whistling noise as if airs escaping but the tops on tight? Any ideas?

It wouldnt come of so i did leaver it a little but i was aware of damaging it but didnit as easy as i could. Im worried now about my cambelt if diesel has got on it.

Also is it right that the housing was full of fuel when i took the top off? The old filter was fully submerged in diesel?

How wet does the cambelt have to be to cause problems? It doesnt seam to have any on but i cant be certain.

Also check the alternator belt for diesel contamination as if that goes it can take the cambelt out at the same time.
