engine oil for 1.4mpi (8V)

Featured Replies

Hi fellas,

I'm planing to replace the oil next month and I'm a bit unsure about which one should I get. My engine is based on the old architecture by Skoda, I think it was a 1.3 before, not a VW one, code ATZ. For the last 2 years (I bought it at 100.000miles), I used Selenia 20k and Castrol Magnatec 10W40 and I'm pretty positive they do not *really* meet the 505.01 standards from the owners book.

I'm changing it at no more than 6 months or 6000miles. The engine has a just about 109.000miles, but it doesn't seem to burn oil between changes.

Should I give it a try with the 5W30 / 5W40 oil or the chances to burn it are high?

I use 10w/40 in mine (Halfords semi-synthetic).
