MFSW clocks and Highline controller

Featured Replies

I managed to source a complete steering controller (1K0 953 549 G) from ebay complete with computer stalks, cruise stalks ignition barrel, airbag squib and key. The seller also had the clocks and steering wheel from the car but refused to give me a price for them just ignoring my messages (no idea why :/)  which would have made life a whole lot easier... I am guessing now I need only fit the parts and code the engine side to get cruise control as hopefully the steering wheel controller already has it. Will this controller support any version of MFSW as I have seen one from a superb which looks exactly the same as the wheel I have now only with MF controls. I would also like to upgrade my clocks to add the fuel compuer as mine doesn't have one. Do I need to change any other modules for this? I would be happy with the standard clocks with the addition of a fuel computer or the ones that look like maxidot but are not fully featured. I don't suppose anyone has done the swap and can give me the part numbers from their old clocks as looking on ebay all you get is an out of car photo? I have included a photo of the bits I have so far. Cheers

P.S once done if anyone needs any of the unused parts let me know you can have them for the cost of postage

Could anyone with standard half display clocks with Fuel computer and vag com possibly retrieve the part number from their clocks?

Thanks Mike, I was hoping you answered!  I almost PM'd you as it seems you make up the bulk of helpful replies in the MKII section. I tried fitting it all last night but got a steering limit  and g85 steering angle sensor error. After lots of reading elsewhere I found a post on a MK5 golf forum detailing the problem I had brought about by the lack of MFSW. I left both stalks on and refitted the old controller until I get one which allowed the steering calibration and cleared the fault.

Mike as ever you are a star and a great help! I did go through several different tries at calibrating the angle sensor with no luck, even took it on a 2 mile drive with minimum power steering with no joy!I did initially fit all parts and then a few other combinations but no test drives as I didn't fully tighten the steering wheel nut due to a worry about exceeding the maximum fitting number which I think was 5 or so n my old golf. Not knowing how many times previous it was removed I have chosen to get a new one and err on the side of caution with my kids in the car Thanks for the part numbers and taking the time to find them for me its appreciated. I have been looking at the maxidots as this time next year I may well be in a position to upgrade the car to a lower mileage version.I accidentally bought a wrong set of clocks from ebay as finding the part numbers for them are impossible, understandably everyone else is looking for them too so is tight lipped. It would be nice to keep them to transfer to the new car as I am keeping all the old parts to put back and avoid a double spend. I'm really enjoying tinkering with the car so far but am jealous of all the VRS owners etc though in reality and elegance spec would be more than enough for me!
