Instrumentation lights

Hi..a real strange question. Is there anyway in VCDS to have the instrument panel illuminated whilst driving without the side/ head lights on? i.e. if you put the side lights on, the instrument panels light up in green. Reason is that my old dad finds the panels dark when driving during the day. Of course he could just switch on his sidelights, but that would be too sensible and easy! Looking for some help guys. Thanks
