1.8tsi starting issue

Featured Replies

Off and on I have had difficulty starting the car. The circumstances always seem to be a) the car is warmed up and B) it has been on a gradient with the front pointing uphill - usually only a slight gradient. Yesterday it was its worst ever, refusing to start for about 5 minutes. It started for a couple of seconds and then died; and when turning over on the starter it caches momentarily, then nothing. After giving up and opening the bonnet, I looked around for anything obvious wrong but there was nothing. After shutting the bonnett it started first turn of the key. We had just completed over 600 trouble free miles too.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Sounds like fuel starvation.

Hopefully there will be a fault code logged, is it under warranty?

Yes, under warranty, so will go to dealer on my return. I have reported it before but no fault logged. Of coursecit was absolutely fine yesterday, even indicating 60mpg for a descent of 1000m from resort to town!
