Cd Multichanger not working

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Ive got an 06 plate Octavia elegance. Its a completely standard setup but the multichanger in the boot doesnt work. Its almost as if its not getting power.

Any ideas? Ive looked for fuses etc but cant seem to find anything in any manuals etc.

Is it the original Stream head unit and has an aux lead been fitted?

It is the standard headunit for the car so i believe yes.

Its the complete standard setup for the car. So its all factory fitted.

What I was getting at is that if an aux lead is present and its a Stream, and not a Stream mp3 head unit (it will say on the front), it is likely someone has put an aftermarket aux adaptor in place of the cd changer.

In which case taking the headunit unit should reveal a disconnected plug from the changer which would replace the plug from the adaptor if you wanted to reverse the change.

If its a Stream mp3 or no aux is fitted ignore me!

Now i understand ya. Lol. Its a standard stream not stream mp3. It does have an ipod cable in the glovebox, is that in replacement for the multichanger?

Also, if i remove the stereo just to check, will i need to code it before i can use it again?

No no need to code it. The cars ecu will recognise it. Mine was out for 6 months and didn't need recoding. If it has an aux lead in the glovebox and says stream on the head unit then someone has fitted a connects 2 unit (or similar) that plugs into the cd changer socket. Easiest way to check without taking out the radio is how do you work the aux? Do you press cd when you connect your phone to get the aux to work?
