Bluetooth retro fit

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I have done some searching, but not found what I am looking for. We have a rapid spaceback and the only thing it's missing for us is Bluetooth. We would like to keep it OEM. Can we retro fit a different head unit (Amundsen or similar)? We have steering wheel controls just not the Bluetooth butttons.

Has anyone done this???

Thanks

Josh

If you have an SE or higher BT is standard fit according to this thread:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/344850-retrofit-bluetooth-on-a-spaceback-s/?hl=%2Bbluetooth#entry4144682

There is a standalone BT module, which is used in conjuction with the Columbus amongst other ICE fits AFAIK.

Steering wheel switch sets are cheapish on ebay.

Then youll need a friendly VCDS owner to code it all.

If you search rapid forums for "bluetooth" it appears frequently.

Elsewhere on the site is a dedicated ICE section.

I'm unsure how the levels relate from Germany to the UK. It has climate control, heated seats, cruise, sports seat and the extra style pack. Thought it would have have the Bluetooth. Something I never checked.

I think Amundsen has built in BT but Columbus uses an external module.

Not built in the Amundsen unit. I had BT before it was fitted.

Hi,

Do you know where can I find in my car a BT module?

BT Module should be under the driver's seat under a plastic cover.

Some Amundsen+ units do have BT built in. This is by far the easiest change to make (straight swap + mic + coding), but not the cheapest.

Yes my A+ does have BT, but it doesn't do speed cameras so it's crap.

The big round signs next to the road with big numbers on aren't enough for you?

Thanks... I've to check it...

I need to connect oryginal BT module with my aftermarket multimedia unit... :)

If it's a 3rd party HU then I doubt the OE BT module will be compatible.

It's nice to have backup, especially on unfamiliar roads in the middle of the night.

PS. that hook always gets a fish on here - I'm gonna need a bigger boat  ;)

Yep... but I've to connect 1 wire: "mute" between HU and BT. In oryginal one it goes by CAN...

i bought VW RNS 315 and it has BT built in and RVC. Then i snagged mic from ebay for 30€ and gps antenna for 10€. It replaced my original Swing HU. Phone function works like a charm.
