how to polish wheels after DIY refurb?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

As per title, what is the best (and inexpensive) way to polish and have nice and shiny finish on the wheels which were DIY refurbed. Haven’t finish yet but the plan is to put few coats of clear lacquer on the top and wet sand it lightly with 2000 grid.

I have Meguiars 105 which I normally use with DA polisher but don’t know what pad would be good for hand polishing – the wheels are VRSs Zenith so not the best shape for DA polisher.

When done, will apply Opti-seal.

Speaking about Opti-seal. I’ve bought it after reading good words about it (thanks to ChrisRs) but never actually use it yet. If I apply it on car’s bodywork to seal the paint, can wax be applied on the top or it’s not necessary?  I’m normally using Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax.

Thanks for any advice

Its not really necessary, but you can wax over any sealant

Personally, I use QD's instead over Sealant

Use Optiseal on your Alloys

Do 2 coats of Optiseal......Leave it a day in between coats

...Dont use a polish...unless they are dull..You will really struggle

They will need coating with Clear laquer if they are not shiny
