Always look on the bright side

Featured Replies

So as some may have read on a Insurance thread, I recently bought a modified Octy Vrs, Insuring was a bit of a mare, but managed to get it sorted in the end thanks to some good advice on here..

Anyway I bought the car as it had a lot of work done and a full service history, and though it would give me a few months without having to spend any money on her,

How wrong could I be, It was bought with the knowledge that it had a cambelt and waterpump change done in 2013 actually got the receipt for it,anyway  as I was getting an oil change on her yesterday my mechanic noticed pink water at the bottom of the engine, not a lot although enough to tell me my waterpump is knackered, BOOM £300 straight away.

Nice little surprise for Easter, on the bright side I wasn't going to bother with an oil change for a bit, but though Id get it done after reading some posts on here with regards to keeping it fresh especially for the turbo, so I could have been driving around without the knowledge the waterpump was knackered in turn possibly costing more...

Always look on the bright side I say

Good advice, you have to. You get a pay off by the rewards for keeping these things on the road too, great cars. These things are hard to swallow financially but every bit of work that gets done is more peace of mind I say. One less thing to worry about. Sometimes it feels like one thing after the other which is kind of where I've been at for a few months but most of it is essential maintenance and tuning rather than breakages. Just put new discs and pads all round yesterday, bit of a sting but pleased with myself for doing it and again, one less thing to worry about for a while. Feel like I'm getting on top of it now. Just an oil change to do and a tuning issue to solve and hopefully I can relax for a while.

I feel your pain - think the water pumps on these are made of chocolate as I've just had the same thing, pump and belt done 20k ago and pump started leaking last month so just done the same. On the plus side you'd pay that on a PCP payment in one month for a new car that you'd never own outright so I know which I'd prefer [emoji1]
