is there easy way to remove diagnostic port

Featured Replies

Need to find number on top off control unit. But cant tell how to unclip the socket? Ive just had ago by prizing a thin blade screwdriver in.it feels loose but just will not come out.

Any ideas?

IIRC you need to remove the storage cubby and the lower dash trim to gain access to the port, it slides up as it's held in place by a channel if you follow me.

I don't think the diagnostic port itself is a "control unit" - It's just a generic OBD2 connector like all modern VW group cars have, even some non V.A.G. :)

It does simply unclip and push back into the hole. I used one of the guides here in Fabia Mk1 to disassemble the driver's side lower dash.

Get someone to scan the car with VCDS, that will give you the part numbers for all the controllers. Saves on dismantling.

Thanks guys.

I actually pm tech1e last night as heard he was the cc guru

He said what to look for and price he charges.

I tried tackling the job earlier but got to point where i thought was gona snap part of trim. So think i might do as trundlenut says.
