1.8tsi fuel economy

Featured Replies

So we took our Octavia 1.8tsi for its first long run under our ownership. A 270 mile round trip to and from Basildon to see some family friends. The car averaged 44mpg recorded (42 realistic) without being on an economy run. Very comfortable for the journey too. Looking forward to our trip up to Todber valley next weekend :-)

I have averaged on the readout 41 for the last few years... remarkable considering its a petrol

Who needs a diesel ?

My old diesel civic averaged about 50mpg and was not as fast or fun to drive. The civic was great but the octy (so far) is better.

Thats a pretty good result considering its a 1.8+ two up and pushing on.Thats roughly what I get in my 1.4 petrol Roomster on a similar run.

Can't fault it so far *touchwood*. A few months ago I had to visit a supplier for work and they got me a 1.2tsi Leon for the day. Afterwards I knew I had to get me one of these tsi engines ;-).

New PB coming home from work today, 50.3mpg indicated. Being stuck behind a lorry at 40 with no overtaking chances does have its positive side  :D

I have the original "thirsty" 1st Gen BZB M6.  My 150,000km long term average is 6.6L/100km (43mpg???).

I did a 120km (each way) trip up into our "mountains" (1100m - LOL) from sea level yesterday.  The trip up the hill gave me 8.0L/100km at my destination.  Arrived back home at sea level reading 4.8L/100km.  I thought that quite good for that engine.
