1.6 TDI CR - oil in the top of the injector holes

Featured Replies

I recently bought a 61 plate 1.6 CR with 59k on the clock.  The garage I bought it from claimed to have done an oil change, but they obviously didn't reset the service indicator, so a few k miles later the service warning popped up.

No worries I thought; I'll do an oil change, and then I know I am starting from a level playing field, and I'll know exactly what oil is in the car.

Fast forward to today, drove the car into some ramps, and then pulled off the engine cover.  Looked down onto what is otherwise a clean looking engine to see what appears to be pools of oil in the injector holes.  There is much more towards the right hand end (oil filler side).

I am now stuck.... do I assume that someone made a terrible job at re-filling the car on a previous oil change, or is there something more seriously the matter with my new car?  It seems like doing an oil change now might be rather premature (the garage stamped the log book saying it was serviced, so I should be fine on any form of warranty claim).

It came with a 3 month warranty from a the used car place I bought it from (it was previously a lease car which appears to have been bought by them at auction).

Sadly I am not very familiar with these new fangled engines (even getting at the oil filter housing looks like a PITA!)  I have previously scanned the car, and nothing dodgy showed up with VDCS, but I'll check again shortly.

Any thoughts from those more experienced with these cars?

Many thanks,

Matt

Upon closer inspection, the oil appears to be dirty..... and I wonder if is leaking through the crank case breather system....

Any thoughts?

Mine is similar, bad hand on filing up with oil and having the rubber seal of it's place

All four holes have oil in though, and if it were a case of shaky hand, I would have expected only the first right most 2 to be wet.

When I bought the car, the garage noticed oil as an observation (via its MOT), and said they had cleaned it up, so if that were the case, and it hasn't had an oil change since, I would have to assume that the oil is somehow escaping.  My best guess being via the CCV?
