time for a suspension upgrade methinks

Featured Replies

Bear with nd....

Test drive in a fiesta st yesterday (great car btw) has led me to believe our cars needs a suspension refresh. On same roads the fiesta dealt with bumps better with less bounce and basically felt fresh. Ours is 9 years old and 70k miles

So in for a penny a shopping list

Whiteline rarb (good source?)

Eibach lowering springs (feel our springs have softened) and good deal on here

B4 or B6 bilstein

What other parts, bushes....

Now our needs are, ability to still be fully loaded without hitting bump stops as I go fishing

Don't mind firm but hate jiggly suspension, better control of body weight is the aim

If anyone can provide part numbers that would be great

Car is a petrol vrs estate that we plan to keep for a long time

Thank you

Gary

If you expect it to feel anywhere near as connected to the road like the ST does you'll be disappointed Im afraid but I'd go with b8 dampers and Eibach lowering springs personally. Use shorter bump stops, uprated top strut mounts and refresh any bushes where needed. With a slightly stiffer rear arb is should be far better. :)

Not looking for that level of planted tbh,

More better damping over speed bumps, slightly less roll and still good comfort

I am swaying towards the b4 and skoda springs

Think b8 is a step too far for me

B4's are OE spec so won't offer any advances over your factory fresh Skoda dampers. I'd look at b6 as a minimum but b8's were tested/developed with Eibachs in mind. :)

Why not go for the B12 kit instead if you are going for springs and shocks or go with B6 shocks if you don't want to lower but improve the handling.

It's actually the ride I am interested in as much as the handling

Especially over speed bumps

Don't laugh but post this I changed back to summer wheels and tyres.summer tyres run at a lower psi as per the manual.

Cough ride is much better, it's amazing what .2 Bar can do.

Might consider an upgrade at some point still.

Thank you

Gary
