Octavia 1u2 Laurin & Klement 1.8t

Featured Replies

The time has now come to move on to something more focused. So here I have my 2 owner 2002 Octavia L&K Eds with the 1.8 turbo AUM lump. Quick spec is 150bhp, 155lb/ft from 1750rpm, 60 in 8.4 and onto the higher end of 130mph. So why buy one and not a VRS? Luxury interior and stupidly cheap insurance is why I bought one. Skoda claim 45mpg is possible, but you'll get overtaken by Lorries. I find it gets 38mpg (average) at a steady 80.

Standard equipment is the full tan leather seat option, leather and wood trimmed doorcards, cruise control, xenon’s, 16" dark chrome alloys, climatronic, illuminated vanity mirrors, puddle lights, 6cd changer, 8 speaker package, matching mats and a bit more carpet.

Since owning it (purchased May 2014) I've upgraded to 312mm VRS front discs and carriers, Eibach Proline springs, Bilstein B4 dampers, Forge 008 recirc valve, K&N panel filter, Ramair feed to airbox, I’ve fitted a boost gauge, LaminX Tango'd indicator lenses, 2013 external badges and removed the rear wiper and motor, plugging the gap with a gelcent glass piece.. My vision was to remap it and get it handling nicely, but Whiteline seem to have been conspiring against me and now I’m nearing an insurance landmark I can insure anything I want to so the insurance friendliness of the Skoda is less relevant to me.

It has MOT till January 2016; it had the cambelt, waterpump and tensioners replaced in January of this year at 116k miles with Erlestoke Skoda. New droplinks in December, new brake vacuum pipe in December, brake and suspension upgrades all fitted in January, a pair of toyo proxies fitted in August and another pair in January, the older ones are on 4mm tread and on the back, newer ones have 6mm tread and are up front. The cam sensor was replaced in March.

It sits on 118'000 miles right now, the bodywork looks lovely polished but has a small ding on the driver’s door and one on the passenger’s door.  The leather has worn its years very nicely and has been cleaned and refed using autoglym products 4 times in my ownership.

It has only one stamp missing from an otherwise FSSH from a home oilchange. Having had a major service this year and the general high condition of the car mean I am looking for £1400 ono.

I am currently working in Italy but can happily return the car to the UK for a concrete sale. Or should you fancy a road trip it cost me 270€ in fuel and tolls to get here and £70 to take the channel tunnel. I am 40km from Genoa airport (BA regually do flights for £35 from Gatwick) working at a B&B with very reasonable accommodation rates.post-117569-0-91359500-1428860618_thumb.jpg post-117569-0-04494100-1428860639_thumb.jpg post-117569-0-94232200-1428860665_thumb.jpg post-117569-0-58653700-1428860743_thumb.jpg post-117569-0-58992100-1428860798_thumb.jpg post-117569-0-70763800-1428860819_thumb.jpg post-117569-0-95163500-1428860907_thumb.jpg post-117569-0-40116600-1428860944_thumb.jpg
