Budget Tyres on an Octy vRS?

Featured Replies

Ok chaps, just stick with me on this one.

Anybody with an Octy vRS had a positive experience from fitting any so called 'budget tyres' ?

Now I fully accept that many are pretty poor especially down round the £50 mark but some of the slightly more expensive ones, say £65 - £75 seem to review ok.

So, share your thoughts please...

Nice one.

I assume you buy from there and get fitted elsewhere?

I seem to have real trouble locally getting fitters to fit tyres (even new ones) that are not supplied by themselves.

Why buy a good car and compromise on the one thing that keeps your car on the road.

Presume you need 225/40/18s? Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2 are currently £92 (iirc) ea on F1 Autocentre / TyreGiant (fully fitted price).

The lowest tyre I would go for on something like the vRS is the RS3 or Hankook V12 Evo2 but on here they seem to be lasting 8-10k on peoples cars. I've got 14k from my F1A2 on the Superb and I don't drive slow (and have 18 round abouts on my work route). I got 12k from a set of PS3s. That £61 then isn't any cheaper in the long run.

Expect to pay £12-15 per corner fitting plus £3ish  delivery from Camskill. So you looking at ~£80 a corner fully fitted. Be wary some garages won't fit tyres you supply.
