Hi Guys, I need a new steering rack for my Pre-FL VRS and I've found a brand new Golf V rack which is a bargain. I realise the Octy does use the front end of a Golf but wanted to find out for definite if it will fit. Does anybody have any experience of this? The part number on the motor is 1K2 909 144L

I can't find that part number on ETKA against either the 1Z Octavia or Golf MK5.

 

The Octavia racks seem to start with part number 1K2 423 055 with a two letter suffix, some are LHD and some RHD.

Hi Mannyo,

After some mor searching that part number is for the ecu which shares the same number as an octavia ecu. Would you be able to compare the part numbers for the rack on the mk5 golf and octavia please and I'll owe you one!

This is the golf from 2006, seem to have less choice.
