Porsche Brembos

Featured Replies

Few questions about these...

1. 986 Fronts with 312mm disks, will these fit under 16" alloys (if spacers are needed, what size)

2. Will any Porsche rears fit the rears and allow handbrake to work etc. I know it would be pointless but would look good, and wouldn't need the rear braking power anyway as I have no track days in mind any time soon.

Not much help but they fit under 17" with a fair bit of clearance radially so at a guess it should be ok if you stick to low profile balance weights. Whether you need spacers will depend entirely on the design of the wheel. Most wheels under 8" wide will need some form of spacer, you may get away with 3mm but if you get to 5mm it may be better to go to 10mm and get a proper hubcentric spacer rather than sitting the wheel on a few mm of spigot.

Don't know of a Porsche fix for the rear as the handbrake is an issue, bit of an improvement can be had from using caddy rears. IMHO rear brakes not overly necessary on track days as some like the tail live, on the road is where I want the car balanced and planted so if you are going Porsche fronts I would look at some improvement on the rear especially on a shorter car that is prone to nose dive under braking.

i have a set of 256mm to go on, but just wondered if there were any brembos which fit the rears.

More for the looks really, insurance doesnt cover track days and im not sure if i would enjoy it ;)

Where can you pick these brake kits up?

Where can you pick these brake kits up?

ebay, a set of brembos can be had for £250 plus £100 for brackets

you can get lcr brembos for around £400-450 which bolt straight onto fabia vrs, but i wanted something different.

I'm after a kit for my 10 Octavia vrs nothing much about in 5x112

eBay for brembos is fine but make sure you get the right ones - fronts for the front. Rears look the same but smaller pistons and different part number put those on the front and you're likely in the ditch.

Make sure you get good brackets like those done by Dave at Vagbremtechnic. There are lots of knock-offs now that don't fit or are sub standard materials. just make sure you know where they come from - its your brakes after all.  I have no axe to grind either way but do some research before you get ones from creation.

If you really want porkers on the back you could get someone to fit you up some brembo handbrake calipers - depends how much you want to spend for the looks

986351421 & 986351422 are the fronts which will fit on the front (38mm & 40mm pistons not 28mm & 32mm)

Yep they're the ones

Has anybody experience of the Stoptech BBK?
