Phatbox Problem

Can anyone help here?

Trying to install a Photbox to an Octy II, which has the Stream radio fitted.

As there is no changer in the car (it's a

You could find that it's a European thing. The Firmware installed in the Stream might not support a changer for some reason. Maybe it's an insurance policy European Skoda dealerships have to make sure you give up fitting your own changer and have to get them to fit the Skoda one.

I would try a cd changer from another Skoda to confirm the problem exists for it too and then take the car back to the dealer with the borrowed changer fitted to show him the problem.

Not sure where it is, but if you do a search I think there is a thread on mating a VW phatbox to skoda models (I think it is meant for the Fabia, but the theory should be the same). You could take it to the dealer, to see if they can help, but as Skoda do not sell the phatbox themselves, they may not be able to

It appears the installation to a Fabia Symphony is a direct connection, which is what I'd hoped would be the case with the Stream.

Sadly, it ain't so....

I'd like to try JohnnyC's idea of trying it in a car with a changer already installed.... anyone within a reasonable distance of Tipperary willing to volunteer?

I think you have the wrong CD changer cable, there are 2 different cables for the Golf MkV and I think people with MkV's had a similar problem to you when they first tried it. You need to get the correct changer cable for your particular headunit.

That sounds like a more likely culprit to me.
