Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) & Poor MPG

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Škoda lovers!

I just bought a 2001 1.4 MPi 8v with almost 200,000km Fabia and it is triggering Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) Signal too low DTC, I bought a new OEM sensor and fitted it, but the car is still returning the same error. I checked the voltages from the wiring loom as suggested by this site http://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/fabia-mk1/engine/1.9/96_tdi_engine_fuel_injection/fuel_preparation_system_diesel_injection/testing_components/inspecting_the__camshaft_position_sensor_g40/ and confirmed that they are correct. What should I check next?

I also noticed a poor MPG (low 20's combined), do you guys think this might be related?

Lastly, I'm from the Dominican Republic, and for some reason, the packages that I order from Europe (eBay, amazon) never seem to arrive, so my question is, Will a lambda sensor from another American VAG car (maybe the Golf?) fit on my Fabia? if so, how about interior bits? like shift knobs, seats etc.

Thanks in advance!

-Greg

Greg,

Check the fuses anything to do with the engine.  If one has blown, then it may be caused by a heater that is in a breather pipe between the crankcase to the air box.  Disconnect it, replace the fuse.

Hi Steve,

All the fuses are good except a blown one for my fog lights (I thought I had to replace the bulbs but they are working now, so thanks!). Any other ideas? this car has been through a beating apparently, the previous owner didn't even changed the air filter

Thanks,

-G

Greg,

What code(s) are you getting when you scan the ecu?
