Octavia VRS - to tweak or not to tweak after chipping?

Featured Replies

I have just had my VRS chipped by Jabba, excellent work, outstanding results, a big noticeable feel in power and delivery.

I now want more power as I am sure all you other Chipped VRS owners would agree! Problem is I am not sure if carrying out further mods will mess up the precise rolling road setup and make the car worse?

I would appreciate as much feed back from all you VRS owners on the following mods

If you havent changed the exhaust its a definate for more power

If you havent changed the exhaust its a definate for more power

To clarify Stuart's comment...a turbo back system...teh freer flowing downpipe and sports cat will give you more torque, a bit more power and a nice deeper sound....the cat back you choose on top of this will determine how loud you want to go.

they say get all the other mods done and then get the remap. if your like me i said i wasnt going to mod my car.....except for the remap. then one i got it out of jabba i had wheels, fmic, coilover the lot planned..

its a bug that once you have caught it, the only way to get rid of it is death lol

^^ I agree.

I was "only going to have a remap" too I'm now really struggling to resist the urge to do more.

Hi Guys have the mods still improved things after the re-map? This is my main worry? Also I do not want to change the exhaust. Will my other suggestions still improve things? Please advise :)

I had a green panel filter fitted when I got my vrs chipped by Jabba. I wasn't planning on doing anything else as nothing had gone wrong to replace. Anyway about 2-3 weeks later I found myself wanting more power so bought a full Blue Flame exhaust (DP Sport cat etc). After getting this fitted the power delivery was definatly improved over just the remap however I think if I took it back to Jabba they would be able to make it even better still. The turbo spins up a bit quicker but the kick doesnt feel as big, if this makes sense the engine doesn't seem to feel as tight with the exhaust as it did before I had it fitted.

Its still well worth getting it done for the looks and the sound.. Get the whole system done then find a long tunnel somewhere and boot it.. I guarrante you will end up with a grin bigger than a cheshire cats. :D:D You will never need a stereo again.

Thanks for the info regarding the exhaust, however I really prefer the turbo kick to the noise, I am trying to be as stealth to the police as possible :)

Do you or does anyone know if the Upgraded Forge Turbo Inlet Pipe or and uprated turbo inlet pipe and green cotton filter make a difference?

Thanks all!

Bump

Consider the standard TIP like hose pipe with a kink in it...tunr the tap on and the water dribbles out. Unkink it...i.e. replace with Forge/Samco TIP or ABD TIP...and water flows out.

Should improve turbo response.

As for exhaust you can get the downpipe/sports cat....will give good torque gains and make the engine note a bit deeper but no louder. You could leave the standard cat back on. I guess it may restrict some of the dp/cat gains though as you're going from 2.5'' bore to a 2'' bore.
