Key removal

Featured Replies

Twice now I have been unable to remove my key from the ignition. This means I can't turn the engine off unless I stall it but then I can't turn it back on. I wiggle it about, push and pull then all of a sudden it comes out. Then when I put the key back in all appears normal. The car is an Octavia 1.6 diesel estate Elegance, 2012, 63000 miles. Any advice? Thanks.

Have you put a bit of grease on the key and pushed it in and out then turned it a few times?

And then try it in the ignition.

:notme:

:peek:  :D

Had the same Issue last year, yes lubrication worked but I used a drop of Vegetable oil.

Just make sure you wipe your key a few times afterwards as it will be black. (behave Tilt! :D )

Tempting

And it wouldn't have anything to do with racism, Lol.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I had a feeling I might get some of the comments after talking about pushing and pulling it until it came off in my hand. LOL

WD40 or GT85 is your friend

get a soft pencil (4H or similar & draw all over the key or use some graphite powder.

I was told by a locksmith 30 years back never to use a wet lubricant on a lock - maybe that's changed - everything else has.
