Service question

If you had the cambelt changed at a main dealer in one part of the country would this be recorded so that the main dealers in the rest of the country would know? The reason I ask is that when I brought my car the cambelt change was due (the car was 4 years old when purchased) and I negotiated to have this done before I picked it up. However I have just received a phone call from the dealership local to me (I have used them once for a warranty job) saying that the cambelt is due for replacement. I haven't had many positive experiences of main dealers and this has got me thinking it hasn't been done at all

Would like to hear your opinions on this, perhaps I'm worrying over nothing.

If we are talking about a Main Dealership and the likes of Skoda, Seat, VW, Audi then yes it should be on the System.

(and other manufacturers)

Your vehicles Service & Warranty History.

They do not provide a Service Book now, but print outs.

What car, engine etc, is it a Skoda?

I receive Reminders often from Dealerships i have had nothing to do with for a few years,

good service and no harm done, their computer will flag up the Service etc.

I have no reminders from more recently used Dealerships.   No harm done.

Thanks for replying. The car is a Skoda Roomster 1.6 diesel. I do have a service book for it, perhaps they were still issuing them when my car was produced.

I'm am referring to skoda main dealerships. I can understand receiving reminders if a service is due, that's fair enough, but surely you wouldn't expect to receive a reminder once you have had the service done? Perhaps I'm being overly suspicious, but I just think if it had been done it would be on a central system and my local dealer would this and would know not to phone.

Is it possible to check the condition of the cambelt visually?

Ask a Dealership Service Reception to show you your car Details on their Screen.

Or just ask Skoda UK Customer Services to send you your Service Record.
