Trip computer resetting everytime i start the car?

Featured Replies

Everytime i start my car i've noticed all the settings on the trip computer reset back to 0 instead of when i reset it (usually when i put petrol in). The battery was disconnected from the car so i'm assuming it's from that.

How do i fit this as it's a simple thing that wouldn't bother anyone else but drives me crazy ha!

Do you have a little number 1 or 2 on the top right corner of the display? One trip resets every trip, the other is a running total. On the MFSW you just click the right hand thumb wheel to switch between the two.

It's got 1. I don't have a MFSW or Maxidot thought.

press the button under the right stalk once and it will switch to number 2

Thanks all for this info,I've had my octavia since August last year and often wondered why everything zeroed with each new journey.now I know and found the second readout thanks again,I learn something new every time I read through this forum.

Perfect.

Memory 1 resets itself after a couple of hours of the car being switched off. Memory 2 only reset after the memory becomes full (over 9999 miles or 99hours, 59 minutes)

My 2012 FL car's memory 2 does reset after 9999 miles but does not reset after 99hr 59min (which is just over 4 days) or any other time.  The reset seems to be governed solely by the mileage covered (9999).  It has maxi-dot and MFSW but I can't see that they would make any difference to the way the M2 resets.

99hrs 59m of driving (assuming you aren't an insomniac), not just sitting gathering dust.

For me that's about 4,000km / 8-10 weeks.  Of course it varies with the traffic density / speed & how many hours a week you drive.

Mine always resets on time, not mileage - I guess the average speed where I live is too slow.

I didn't think of the time as DRIVING time.  Mine must then reset on driving time as my average speed is certainly under the approx. 100mph needed to cover 9999 miles in under 100 hours of driving!

Do you not have a manual? It's all in there.

If that was aimed at me - yes, I do have a manual in both printed and PDF formats.  However, there could well be a few words in there that I haven't read.  My manual (dated 2010) makes no mention of mpg (memory 2), only single-trip memory (memory 1) and total-trip memory (memory 2) that show distance travelled..  Although I suppose you could infer that the mpg (memory 2) re-sets in the same as does the total trip (memory 2).  My manual also refers to the re-set being at 9,999 km, not miles.

Should do, both my versions on pages 18 through 20 go through it in pretty much a lot of detail, it's the first thing under the heading 'Multi-function indicator (on board computer)'.

and you can download the November 2011 handbook as a pdf from the pinned section above. You will find what you need on page14

If everybody used the manual there'd never be anybody asking questions...

Just sayin :)
