Fabia stereo issue

Featured Replies

Hi

I tried installing my aftermarket double din stereo today and failed lol

The previous owner I believe has installed a connects 2 device for aux input to the standard stereo which I had disconnected and left unconnected. I tucked those wires away behind.

While installing I swapped over the red and yellow cables as Ive read this is what is required on Skoda's but then while trying to neaten the wires getting it ready to put the stereo in I noticed smoke suddenly come out from behind where the stereo would be seated.

I tested the my stereo and it was working fine until a short while later when trying to further neaten the wiring smoke sudenly started coming our my aftermarket stereo. I tested the stereo and it wouldnt work. My stereo didnt seem to have a fuse that I could check so I decided to put everything back to how it was with the original stereo.

Ive connected everything back up to how it was but the stereo wont turn on now :(

Ive gone from trying to upgrade the stereo to not having any stereo at all now lol

The fuse on the back of the original stereo is fine as well as the fuse in the board to the right of the driver side dash.

Does anyone know what I could have potentially damaged/shorted etc? The car seems to turn on and havent yet noticed any other faults as a result of what Ive done.

Would greatly appreciate your help on this.

Thanks

Jay

Turns out I did actually just blow a fuse and I was checking the wrong fuse at first.

I hang my head in shame...

Stereo now working again!
