2.0 tdi - sounds like exhaust blowing.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Have got myself a 2.0 tdi Elegance, Manual.

Just wondered if anybody else has one and if it seems to be noisier than you would expect? at a constant speed at about the motorway limit it sounds like there is a blow from the exhaust.

Not as quite as my old VRS.  (nearly as quick though)

I have one, but I don't find it noisy at motorway speeds.

I find it a bit more rough at low speeds at low revs than I expected, but not worse than other diesels and definitely more quiet than my old Seat Leon mk1 1.9 tdi.

I drive a DSG 2.0 TDI and haven't noticed any unusual noises in motorway speeds. In fact it's surprisingly quiet.

It may depend on how do you read the word "about"...

I would say from the interior it is one of the best cars I've driven for noise isolation from the diesel engine. (admittedly my previous cars were older so not as refined but all were common rail).

Definately no complaints at any speeds but especially the motorway (low engine rpm, high aero & road noise).

The main thing I hear is the loud wind noise from the mirrors.

Well slightly about the legal limit.

At about 2250-2600 rpm there seems to be more noise than I expected
