OEM red ignition coil upgrade?

Featured Replies

If they are the proper R8 coil packs then they offer a beesdik more spark as they have a few extra windings. I doubt it's noticeable.

I can't comment on if they are more reliable.

I fitted a set as a preventive maintenance measure as my OEM coils had 120,000km on them and 4x red coils were cheaper (GBP70 at the time) than a single OEM coil from the local dealer. (because we get ripped-off down here)

Mine has the R8 coil packs

Supposed to be a bit better

Can't say if they are, as they were already on when I bought it

Look good in red though :D

red must faster surely?

Replaced mine with R8 coils after one of the originals failed.

They were much cheaper than going through any parts supplier at the time, and have not failed yet so win-win from me.

So the red ones are R8 ones then?

Mine are anyway

I've got Red coilpacks on my Audi V8 as standard fitment, 8 months ago one did fail but Audi replaced all 8 free of charge with a newer revised part.
