Setting up CH/LH lights on an Octy2 FL

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I know this has been covered a lot over the years, but I couldn't quite find the answer I needed having found a lot of material on here after a search.

Thanks to Jonny5ive I now have coming home lights active when you flick the main beam stalk before exiting the car.

The one thing we were struggling with was leaving home lights. These do not activate upon unlocking the car, even with the headlamp switch left in the on position.

The car in question is an Elegance with rain/light sensor and no auto light switch.

We set the coding up as per past topics with activation left personal rather than via sensor. We did try and test the sensor, covering it completely, but this bore no effect.

I've seen people state that with the light switch left on, if you unlock the car during the day, the light sensor will deactivate the LH lights, due to daylight detection. Do the same at night and the lights will activate.

I've also seen people say that even if you don't leave the headlamp switch in the on position the LH/CH will work on vehicles with no auto lights.

My questions are:

What's the definitive answer for how the CH/LH lights work?

What bits of the coding need adjustment to get the functionality as per the answer to the above question?

Thanks in advance.

Karl

On mine, before I fitted the autolight switch IIRC CH lights only worked with the light switch left on headlights, whereas the LH worked off the sensor, but leaving the headlight switch on overruled the light sensor.

What MY is your car? I'll see if I can dig out the coding for my car from before I fitted the new switch.

It's May '10 registered so I'm guessing it's definitely MY10, though I can't remember the build date, as that's on Jonny's laptop.

I'll have a play at dusk and try and rule out our artificial night time to be sure.

Doh! Didn't read the title properly. Your car has a BCM rather than separate CE and CCU like mine. The coding will be different and the RLS is also different though I don't know if this makes a difference.
