Water ingress......

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the best way to solve water leaking in through the drivers door? It seems to come through the bottom rubber seal during heavy rain, and is now getting very annoying.

It is booked in to my local dealer next week, but I am not sure if it will be covered by warranty. The car is 2 and half years old.

Any ideas?

I have this too.... seems to be collecting on the top of the door seal.

Pop off the door trim and check that the plastic door 'foil' is intact. (this is the bit of plastic that covers the door aperature). If this isnt sealed or is damaged then the water that builds up inside the door while its waiting to drain out of the drain holes at the bottom ends up spilling over the sill and into the car.

Door foil...... could that be a foam membrane as opposed to plastic? I have a 04 Octy RS. It's had a dent repair to the offending door, and it may not be fully sealed.

I too have had this problem with the passenger door although i think this is due to the car being parked on a slight slope. If i parked the other way around i'm sure the drivers would leak aswell. When parked on level ground it does not leak:confused:

It's been to the stealers and they supposedly sealed the foam like material to the door but it's still leaking:mad: so i think i'm going to have to do it myself:( as i do not have any faith in my stealer:thumbdwn:

Yes you arre quite correct, they have replaced the plastic membrane with a dark grey foam sheet.

I had exactly this problem after fitting my Focal Utopias, and sound deadening, after tests with a hosepipe, found that it was running down the wire bundle that runs in just under the mirror, to cure it i made a small deflector to channel it away inside the door, worked a treat!
