Clutch pedal problems.

Has anybody had problems with the clip which secures the clutch cylinder pin to the pedal breaking up?

The manual says the way to replace the clip is to remove the pedal and then refit with the clip. It also describes a spring retaining tool to hold the pedal return spring so it can be removed.

Does anybody body know where to get one or how to make one or if there's another way to do it?
