Bike Insurance Renewal Time - Game, Set & Match MoFo's!

Featured Replies

Got my renewal notice emailed to me wanting £190 for 3rd F&T with breakdown and nothing else...... That's more than last year ffs.

Did a couple of comparisons and MCE came back cheapest at £121 (no surprise), went direct to their site and got it down again fully comp with all extras. So called my insurer and said it was too expensive and they 'had a look at it for me' and said they couldn't do it any cheaper. So I gave the price and policy outline MCE had quoted and low and behold 15 minutes later I get a call back with a better deal. £10 more than MCE but I get proper comprehensive breakdown cover from my insurer and lower excess, so that will do me nicely!

I really wish they would not take the micky to start with though, before adding the extras I wanted I got them to drop the price from £190 3rd F&T to £85 and upgraded to fully comp and protected NCD.... Hate the lack of loyalty every insurer seems to show these days at renewal and their initial pretending to try and get me a lower price but being unable to.....

But all is well that ends well and I have my preferred insurer with full EU cover that I don't need to inform them in advance of, important as I live close to the boarder with the Republic of Ireland and the road pops in-between the two countries and full breakdown for UK and ROI (not just 5 minutes of some recovery guys time and a 10 mile tow).

What I mean by the boarder thing, as many insurers require you to inform them in advance of such travel outside of the UK, which is a pain in the hoop for obvious reasons. Makes it awkward to get proper insurance with many of the big national companies, some have an exemption with regards to the ROI boarder for NI policy holders "due to the geographical location", but many fall foul of it and revert to 3rd party only or void their cover by not reading the terms of the policy properly  :nerd:

Money saved spent on 3 year extended warranty for my laptop  :cocktail:

I know the feeling.

Insurance was due on my bird a couple of weeks ago. Swinton called me to renew and wanted £600 even though it was only £220 the previous year with no claims during that year. Went on comparethemarket and best price was £180. Told Swinton who said "what can we do to get your business". That was simple, "match it or better it" I told them. In the end they did. Fully comp with legal cover.

Why don't they just reward your loyalty and give you the best price to begin with.
