Radio/Central locking problems !!

Featured Replies

Hi All

Hope I am in the right place !

My Son has a Octavia 1.9 TDi (Red I) 2001 (51)

And for his birthday we have bought him a Pionieer Radio, and I fitted it today, And it works ok, but when he went to leave he found that the central locking, all the windows, the electric sunroof and the interior lights would not work.

I have checked the fuses, but I might have missed some ! I have got a horible thought that the Symphony radio that comes with the car might have something to do with the other electrics !!!

Can any one help ??

Steve

Its a wiring issue, one of the pins isnt correct in the ISO plug thats all.

Found this with a little searching..

the problem is new VAG stereo's require a extra permanant 12v signal to them (called SAFE on the head unit wiring diagram) which just happen's to be a 12v output for a arial on aftermarket head units.

Have a look on your old stereo. There will be a pinout diagram for the power and speaker connector blocks. Find the pin called SAFE on the diagram and the coresponding wire in the power connector block. Plug in your clarion loom and i think it will be a blue cable that goes from the connector block into the stereo. Cut this wire and it should solve the problem. Tape up the wire so it can be re-connected if transfered to another car. Hope this helps.

Hi Lummox

Thanks for the help, but found the problem !

Nothing to do with the radio fitting, well not quite, the radio had a bluetooth built in with a mic, and fitted the mic up in the interior light fitting and my son must have shorted the screwdriver while trying to get the fitting out, and so blowing the fuse.

so again many thanks both
