is my clutch a record breaker at 204,000 miles?

Featured Replies

me and my Octavia 1.9TDi Elegance have just gone over 204,000 miles since new on the original clutch and I was wondering if that was a record or has anyone seen one last longer?

I don't drive it particularly gently on the open roads and through the twisties and quite often crawl through the traffic into the city centre so i'm totally amazed that it has lasted so long and am now anticipating a drastic failure at any moment now

Wow. How old is the car out of interest? Cheers.

its on a 54 plate but I bought it pre-registered March 2005

My 1.9pd with 161k has had at least 2 new flywheels and clutches that I know of so yes thats good going!

I have 134k on original clutch and flywheel on a 2.0TDi 4x4.

I don't think its so much the clutch life that's impressive as the fact you've managed 204k on the DMF

ive read about worn DMF and mine is showing no signs of wear at all. no noises or knocking or give in the clutch take up. pulls just as cleanly as it has ever done

Outstanding, all I have to say

My last Octavia had done 212000 on its original clutch and the only thing I had to change apart from normal service items was the alternator.

Ok so I've possibly got a few more miles to go before I match your record. But does anyone know what the absolute record is?
