Interesting day...

My wife had just strapped our six month old daughter into the back. Inadvertently she had put the keys down on the seat next to the baby seat and forgot to pick them up when she closed the door.

In its wisdom our Fabia decided to lock itself. Baby trapped inside car in full sun on a warm Summer day.

One smashed window later, we've both fallen out of love with the Fabia.

To make matters worse, after smashing the drivers window to gain access, pulling the interior door handle didn't unlock the car, nor did pressing the 'lock' button on the door arm. Thankfully a good samaritan climbed through the window to retrieve the keys. Damaged the top of the door card a bit but that's the last thing to be worried about.

I've had this issue before with the car locking itself, sometimes whilst doors are open. Surely this isn't a 'feature' of the car, is it? And why doesn't the car unlock when you pull an interior door handle?

Faulty door lock microswitch can cause the doors to lock themselves. Very common problem. Does your lights-on bleeper work when you open the driver's door with your lights on?

Yes it does, as does the interior light when i open the driver's door.

Maybe it's intermittently failing?
