About 40Km/h over on dual carriageway when zapped - fixed penalty and 3 points coming my way. No excuse, VRS is eager and its hard not to give in to it. Bugger......

Oh dear.  If you want a reminder to alert you of excessive speed you can set the  winter the speed warning to anything and very easily.  I often set it to say 35 when I'm around town and maybe 80 when on a motorway, the bong is a reminder if I've been in attentive of my speed.  I suspect though..... This feature would not have been a help for you this time?  We all do it some times.
