centre seat belt

Featured Replies

hi I have a 9yr daughter who is the youngest and the smallest of my 3 daughters so she sits in the middle of the rear seat of my skoda fabia mk1 so she has to use the lap strap but has asked me to fit a 3 point seat belt instead and my question is is it possible to fit one in replace of the lap strap

many thanks

I don't think the Fabia Mk1 ever had fixings for a three point seatbelt. So I'd say it's not possible.

However, I'm sure with enough welding and fabrication it could be done.

I'm not presuming to tell you what to do with your children, but for a child to use just a seatbelt and no booster seat on anything other than 'occasional' or 'emergency' journeys they need to be 14 years or over or over 143cm 135cm high (please check those as I'm going off my memory) according to UK law.

I'm possibly misreading your intentions and you intend to use a seat for her, but in my experience you can't fit two seats + a bottom across the Fabia's rear seats, let alone three seats. One seat and a couple of bottoms is uncomfortable.

Edited: to amend height according to UK law.

many thanks was just checking

The face lift MK1 Fabia from around 2004/2005 has a 3 point centre belt, it's contained in the seat back rest, it also has a system to warn you if the back rest isn't secured in the upright position.  It may be feasible to get a later back rest and transfer/adapt your seat cover to fit it.
