Ok cheers thought it might be missing !

Not true the original mk2 vRS petrol had it , later on when red calipers were introduced it was dropped and only continued for the tractor variety . You can retrofit . Mine ( green calipers ) had it and engine keeps heat longer and does not sound tiny when you close bonnet . Proper battery tray too not fabric !

I have red calipers and a proper battery try.

Fitment is all over the shop.  All the diesels (should) have it.

Fitment to the petrol engines seems somewhat random.

When i bought my 1.8tsi I pointed out the lack of sound deadener using a diesel as an example and the (relatively new) dealer fitted a new one under warranty.

I think it's a great thing - helps the engine heat quicker, stops the paint on the bonnet getting too hot, keeps the noise down.

I thought I saw a MK2 Octy under bonnet insulation kit somewhere on here, can't remember where though.

I boight one from my skoda dealer to fit to my MKII vrs petrol - think it cost me about £24 including all the clips and took me about 5 mins to fit

They are on Aliexpress too.  cheap-as

My Octavia is the red caliper version so that sounds right, I noticed on my sills near the front wheels it looks like there are a few rust spots from stone chips just above the stone guard paint which could have done with being painted higher lol think I will get it re painted as the cars only done 46k and is mint everywhere else and having just bought it will keep it a few years

I have a 2011 FL RS from new and mine has no sound deadening under the bonnet at all :( Does any have the part numbers or the link to the aliexpress ones?

Cheers

Kit :)

I fitted mine from new, I have the plastic battery tray. I believe the fabric comes with the clips however I ordered my clips anyway so have some spare!

My 06/2007 TFSI had the plastic battery try but no under bonnet sound proofing.

Most of the noise comes from the back end of the car anyway.

Price has gone up since last time I looked.  You are probably better to buy local.   There are other threads with partno.  They come with the clips

Sound Absorber - 1Z0863831A, cost me £23 nearly 4 years ago... still got the bill!

Dohhh I'm a spanner!!!...mine has the under bonnet lining!!! And its still too loud for me. My mate has a 2011 Audi A4 S line and his is really quiet!!! Is there an engine wrap fro the Octy like there is for the 1.9 fab? I had one on my Fabia when I had one, it was a sleeve that fitted around the engine.

kit :)

Must admit I was wondering how under-bonnet lining made any difference to the noise level in the cabin. Makes a difference to an observer outside (eg in the car park) as it cuts down some of the diesel clatter.

The same way the undertray makes a difference to cabin  noise?
