Deep Vibrations!

Featured Replies

To add to the list of problems with my car unfortunately it's suddenly developed a 'low down' vibration on idle/very low revs.

It sounds as though it could be a petrol car with a hole in the exhaust at the moment but its a pd derv! I can sort of rule out DMF because for one it is sudden, and two there is no change when dipping the clutch.

Could it be a gearbox mount at all? The gearbox itself seems fine and doesn't whine or grumble at me!

I'm also wondering if it could be related to the fact my clutch has just started to slip with passengers on board but only in high gears.

Any help narrowing it down would be great please. Just to point out also that when the car is warm, it goes much quieter but still not the way it used to be.

Many thanks!

check the mounts m8 rock car in 1st gear see if theres any excess play in engine

If you feel vibrations through the steering wheel when stationary then defo dogbone mount (gearbox to subframe)

I shoved it into reverse and rocked the car. There was certainly some movement in the block side.

Not sure what to compare it to though?

There was no 'clonk' or knocking to hear however.
