VRS & Air Filters

Featured Replies

As me and the missus have decided to keep the car and save up for a deposit for a (rented) house I'm going to be slowly modifying the car. I'm fully aware that adding a new Air filter doesn't add any bhp and to be honest I'm not looking to do that just going to do it for the looks and any additional grumble is a bonus, what is everyone running/recommend as I'm getting bored of the big black box under there.

Get the itg maxogen the best air filter for the Fabia

ITG has been proven to add a few horses :)

Plenty of Performance Air Filters available that give more Noise and that feels like more performance.

But actually no more Performance and worse economy than OEM ones.

Costs the price of several nice new Air Filters which the engine runs pretty well on in all UK Weather Conditions & Seasons.

A good Project Build and real world power without a Stage 1 Remap.

I've put my car back to standard, air filter and plugs ready for next week and the mpg as gone down.

There you go then, real world proof.

Has the weather improved and Ambient temperatures gone up, or is everything all the same other than plugs and air filter.?

Plugs can make a noticeable difference.

PS.

What happens next week?

I had ngk8 plugs in and the vwr replacement filter in. The car in booked into skids next week for it's second service and it's the big one

Is this to protect a warranty. A 2nd major service does not usually have the airbox being opened.

And not the spark plugs removed and checked and usually means castrol or quantum oil put in the engine,

meaning £250 spent in a rather wasteful way. (maybe worth using different oil from their 5w 30 Long Life)

If you think putting a good running car into a Skoda Dealers hands for Skoda goodwill then maybe worth while.

Are you wanting them updating the software?

yeah for the warranty and it's the 2nd service but the 4 year/40k so it's everything plugs air filter pollen filter oil and filter. Car only done 30500miles.Cost me about £400

Are you paying them their crazy price to put in OEM Spark Plugs,

then removing them later.

Why not just buy your own DENSO plugs and ask them to fit them if you are protecting the warranty.

(Audi fit the DENSO at Services to 1.4 TFSI engines.)

Some VW Dealerships will do a Inspection Service with OEM Spark Plugs for £299.

Warranty is still valid. As should be Skoda Goodwill.
