Gave in to temptation...

Featured Replies

With the diminishing lack of CTHE remap hopes, I gave in today and purchased a bluespark box.

Im not expecting a huge leap forward in power/ driveability but I'm looking forward to seeing if they are worth the money.

Seem to be mixed results on CTHE engines in terms of gains. Some people love it, others didn't think it was worth it.

I'm interested in road performance and mid range rather than chasing numbers.

Will post my findings!

I've had my Bluespark box for 10 months now. Took it off a couple of months ago for car's annual service. I'd forgotten what a difference the Bluespark box made. Petrol consumption up, acceleration down. Couldn't wait to get it back on. Certainly works for me & wouldn't be without it. Had it on the RR & it probably hasn't made much or any difference to BHP, but the torque curve is much flatter with a lot more available over a wider rev band

top figures are not the story....

it could be the same top hp, BUT if there are mid range gains over the middle rev range you will certainly feel it :) and of course torque, as you say :)

It's quite a jump in torque.. Standard is 184 lb ft right? So your figures show a 62 lb ft gain.. That's pretty respectable!

Standard was given as 184 lb / 250 Nm  Minimum back in 2009 /10

CAVE Engines on 95 Octane Petrol.

The CTHE Engine and Map is not as a 2009-2012 CAVE,

but the Official Figures were never changed in 2012 / 13.

So many Standard CTHE are not as the Official Volkswagen Figures are.

PS

'vRSforever',  has a fast car even without a Tuning Box on,

but has a DSG that behaves differently from some others in 2nd and 3rd 'D',

well in my experience of driving a few CAVE & CTHE of different build dates.

I'd be interested to know which version of Bluespark you have. I was told that mine was a prototype that measured or monitored 3 sensors, as opposed to their standard box which just monitored 2.

Just wondering if it ever went into production or if it was a "one off"

Easy to tell the difference of course by the connection leads, but also in the box itself mine has a dial adjuster 0-9, as well as the usual jumper pins..

I'll check when I get it and let you know. I think judging by the website description it's still the two sensor version.

Can anyone post a pic of the map and boost sensors the box fits into.. The instructions that came with the box are rubbish. Would rather make sure I have the right ones.

Until someone with the same Bluespark comes along. check out the fitting of the TMC Tuning Box.

Cheers for that.. Managed to figure it out in the end.. All seems to be working. Initial thought are decent torque increase. Will go for a proper drive tomorrow and see..

Was just going to post some pictures, but it seems I'm too late (as usual). Glad you've got it sorted though. Be interesting to hear your impression, once you've given it a good testing. Don't be frightened to play with the jumper settings to see which one works best for you.

Thanks dude.. FYI mines the 2 sensor version. Drove it on setting c that it came on. Going to try one up tomorrow on my morning country blast. So far so good.

Im going to run it on my obd tommz to see what it's done to the boost levels. By the increase in turbo noise sounds like it's boosted it quite a bit. Just want to make sure it's within safe levels

Well, you've had the Bluespark box for a week now, so what do you think? Any useful gains or a waste of money?

Haha yeah. Was giving it a while to get a real feel of it.

Noticeable difference. Worth the money In my opinion.

Running in top setting with no issues.
