Not happy after DMF & clutch change

Featured Replies

Works car has had its 2nd clutch and dmf but I'm not happy with the clutch even after returning to the dealer and 3 technicians looking at it.

1st clutch failed due to failed thrust release bearing (kept jamming in 1st gear)

2nd clutch supposedly due because the failed DMF took it out through vibration?

However to me the new clutch is too high and judders just before the clutch is fully released unless given beans which will naturally lead to another clutch.

I assume they'd have bled the master cylinder and checked clutch cable tension as part of the clutch and dmf change?

Going to go back, but just wanted advice from anyone who's had a clutch and dmf change which wasn't right, and what it was so I can press the garage to check it again.

It will have a clutch cable or master cylinder, but not both.

Having said that, I'd expect the cable to be adjusted or the hydraulics bled as part of a clutch change yes.

What I thought, thanks for confirming.

I'll get them to take a more detailed look as it's definitely not right.

Aside from the old clutch & dmf vibration at idle and passing 1800-2200rpm it wasn't like this at all when pulling off. Very juddery now as clutch fully released and gear changes seem very clunky - especially 3rd.
