Sensitive alarm?

Alarm and hazard lights on when stationary with no reason and only sometimes???

Octavia 2009 vRS tsi dsg hatch

If you've got the interior movement sensor activated when the alarm is on, you sometimes hear reports that something like a money spider moving about inside the senor module in the headlining by the rear view mirror is enough to set it off!

Deactivate the senor and see if that cures it.  If that doesn't help, it's worth prising the cover off and cleaning & checking.

IIRC The alarm sensitivity can also be adjusted in VCDS, you can also read the most recent triggers which are logged as fault codes.

Thank you very much for this . Now I need to find someone with VCDS around my area and get him to adjust it. Is it hard to do it? Anyone had this done before?

And yes when the interior sensor is off the alarm is off .

I had a problem where the alarm would randomly activate on my Octavia.....usually at 2am. Not very often, maybe 4 or 5 times a year, but enough to be annoying.

As mentioned you can see what caused the last 3 or 4 activations with VCDS........in my case they were all caused by the internal movement sensor. I reduced the sensitivity of the sensors to 50% about a year ago and I have not had a spurious alarm since.

However there could be other causes. Failing Alarm siren battery could be to blame, or even your car battery could be to blame if it is old and not holding charge well. Either way a VCDS scan should reveal the cause.
